High School Bigs:

A High School BIG is at least 16 years of age and is able to mentor a young child (we call them LITTLES) for an hour per week at the LITTLES school or a designated after-school site throughout the school year. The commitment for both in the match is for one year.

Our High School BIGS come from local high schools.  They are typically juniors or seniors who are willing to be a positive role model and mentor. Usually, the high school BIG goes to the LITTLES school during lunch or another approved time in the school day for 1 hour.

The following High Schools participate in the High School BIGS program:

Farmington High School
Piedra Vista High School
Navajo Preparatory School
Shiprock High School
Bloomfield High School
Newcomb High School
Kirtland High School
Aztec High School

If you attend one of these high schools, you can apply to participate in the school based program.  We will consider you for a match with a child from a local elementary school or after school program that is within close proximity to your high school.

SENIORS!    You have until August 31st to turn in your completed applications to be considered as a mentor during your senior year. It's fun! Some BIGS like to compare it to "RECESS" like they had back in elementary school- YOU have the chance to have it AGAIN!! Become a BIG! check it out...
